Your Foundational Tool Kit to Overcome Workplace Bullying in 2012
By Valerie Cade CSP | December 28, 2011
There are many tools and tips we can access to help us stop workplace bullying. I will suggest the following as a foundation to all of us to build upon. Over all the years, many people have found this foundation helped them to move through adversity to the ‘other side’. Enjoy reading Your Foundational Tool Kit to Overcome Workplace Bullying in 2012:
I’ve asked people all over the world ‘what do you do to cope’ or ‘overcome adversity’? Here summarized, is a passage you are probably familiar with and it has helped thousands of people. Today it is just for you:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13
The Point: The most powerful people in the world display and give love. Bullies, while powerful, are much more powerless without love.
What Does This Mean? Study love and it will protect you from anything less. Fill yourself in knowingness so that you may still be able to love. This is real power.
What is This Powerful Thing Called Love?
Love is the center of our being. It is the vital force that gives us energy and direction. It connects one’s heart with another. Love is an irresistible attraction and affection for a person, place, idea, or even life itself.
Love is cherishing others, treating them with tenderness. Love thrives on acceptance and appreciation. It has the power to heal. It calls us to continually hone ourselves, while releasing the need to control. Nurtured by commitment and seasoned with kindness, love is our greatest gift and it is available to everyone.
Here’s What You Can Do To Ensure You Have Love in 2012:
- Allow your self to connect deeply.
- Commit yourself wholeheartedly to yourself and others.
- Show love through acts of kindness regularly.
- Accept and appreciate the ones you love.
- Commit to ‘love yourself’ to keep yourself protected, to get help where needed, to stay plugged in.
It is said the highest vibrational level in the world is love. It is also said that love carries the most power as well. If we can arm ourselves in 2012 with this powerful vibration, then we will be more protected from many things that have harmed us in the past.
Wishing you all the best in 2012!

I actually more of a question to ask than a comment.
I have been looking for some kind of verbal self defence training programs for individuals in Calgary. So far unsuccessfully.
Can somebody recommend any? TXS.

Dear Valerie,
Thank you very much for educating nurses regarding Bulling. I was a victom of bulling for sometime in mid 90′s @ foothills hospital here in calgary.I think management had alot to do with that. I was silently sufferring from post truma syndrom, and I couldn’t figure out why they were treating me that way. They were doing things to my patients to make me look bad, and management was knowingly was ignoring that. It took me sometime to assert myself. I have been working as a registered nurse for over 40 years. I moved to canada in early 1982 after suferring few years working in war zone under daily fire and bombing when our country IRAN was invaded by Iraq. Obviously, took me sometimes to get back on my feet. However, I’m proud of myself for what I’ve done for my family, not to mention millions of patients around the world.

Thank you for your comments in this article about bullying. Quoting the famous Corinthians passage about love is a good reminder. Some of your others comments are also valuable. However under the heading,”What does this mean?” those three sentences are less clear. “Study love and it will protect you from anything less,” is not necessary true. There are no guarantees. It is best to love even if you don’t get love in return which happens rather frequently. The next sentence doesn’t really make sense: “Fill yourself in knowingness so that you may still be able to love.” I’m not sure what that means. In any case I thank you for the work you are doing and wish you blessings and success in the future.
Sincerely;
Leonard Nolt

I have found on more then one occasion that once you have a supervisor who is a bully. Best just start finding a new job. Even reported once to the state wrongful doing to a special need person. They were found in the wrong terminated. So was I they all went to better jobs but trashed my name to the point I ended up driving a school bus for a living where I find workplace bullying to be at its best. They tell you to stop the bullying on the school bus, but isn’t it training them for the real world.

Finally a solution to the Problem. Been throught this and suffered post Tramatic stress from it. Went to my supervisors, management about it on countless occasions without any resolution. Had proof and witnesses. Many staff held a meeting to try to resolve it with Manager who eventually denied the meeting happened.
Very frustrated at the time that I eventually quit and got a new job for health reasons and peace of mind.
Thank you for the Work your doing! Teaching the world Mutual Respect is not an easy task.
